Summary

Carlos Sainz receives a warning for overtaking Car 77 during the formation lap, as he entered the pit lane for a mandated pit lane start.

Explanation

The stewards reviewed video evidence showing Car 55 (Carlos Sainz) overtook Car 77 (Valtteri Bottas) during the formation lap. Sainz was required to start the Sprint from the pit lane due to another breach, and entered the pit lane at the end of the formation lap, overtaking Bottas shortly before Safety Car Line 1. This was deemed a breach of Article B5.6.4 of the FIA F1 Regulations. Since the usual penalty (pit lane start) was already in effect, the stewards issued a warning.

FIA F1 Regulations - Article B5.6.4
B5.6.4 Overtaking during the formation lap is only permitted if an F1 Car is delayed and F1 Cars behind cannot avoid passing it without unduly delaying the remainder of the field. In this case, drivers may only overtake to re-establish the original starting order. Any driver delayed in this way, and who is unable to re-establish the original starting order before they reach the first safety F1 Car line, must enter the Pit Lane and start the TTCS from the end of the Pit Lane. A Stop-and-Go Penalty will be imposed on any driver who fails to enter the Pit Lane if they have not re-established the original starting order before they reach the first safety F1 Car line.
