Doc 7 - Power Unit Information

2026 British Grand Prix

Published

Summary

Document 7 provides power and energy limits, overtake zones, and sector-specific PU power reduction details for the 2026 British Grand Prix.

Explanation

This document, issued by the FIA Race Director, provides teams and Power Unit Manufacturers (PUMs) with the specific power and energy limits for the 2026 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. It details maximum recharge per lap, PU power reduction rates, DC power of the ERS-K as a function of car speed, and identifies sectors where exceptions apply (e.g., alternative power curves, power reduction resets, and overtake speed thresholds). The information is derived from Technical Regulations Articles C5.2.8, C5.2.10, C5.12.4, C5.12.5, C5.12.7, C5.12.8, and B7.2.

FIA F1 Regulations - Article C5.2.10
C5.2.10 The energy harvested by the ERS-K Recharge, as measured at the CU-K HV DC Bus, must not exceed a limit of 8.5MJ in each lap, subject to the following additional conditions: i. This limit may be reduced to 8MJ at Competitions where the FIA determines that the maximum possible energy harvested per lap attributable under braking and in partial load is no more than 8MJ. ii. This limit may be further reduced to no less than 5MJ for Sprint Qualifying and Qualifying sessions at Competitions where the FIA determines that the harvesting strategies required to achieve the above limit are excessive, subject to the conditions specified in Article B7.2. iii. Up to 0.5MJ of additional energy may be harvested in each lap subject to the conditions specified in Article B7.2. The vehicle fundamentals used to determine the above limits will be provided in the document FIA- F1-DOC-034. 2026 Formula 1: Technical Regulations 27 February 2026 C6 5 C 0 SECTION C: TECHNICAL REGULATIONS C5.2.11 The MGU-K mechanical torque magnitude may not exceed 500Nm. The torque will be referenced

C5.2.8 Additionally, and subject to Article B7.2.1, the electrical DC power of the ERS-K used to propel the car may not exceed: i. When Overtake is not active: P(kW) = 1800 – 5 * car speed (kph) when the car speed is below 340kph P(kW) = 6900 – 20 * car speed (kph) when the car speed is equal to or above 340kph and below 345kph P(kW) = 0 when the car speed is equal to or above 345kph ii. When Overtake is active In Override Mode up to: P(kW) = 7100 – 20 * car speed (kph) when the car speed is below 355kph P(kW) = 0 when the car speed is equal to or above 355kph. FIA F1 Regulations - Article C5.12.4
C5.12.4 Except for conforming to Article C5.2.8, the driver maximum power demand cannot be reduced by more than 150kW at the start of any power limited pending period, and the power reduction will remain fixed for a minimum of 1s. Further exceptions are permitted for specified circuit sectors, subject to Article B7.2.1. C5.12.5 The driver maximum power demand cannot be increased during any power limited pending or

FIA F1 Regulations - Article C5.12.5
C5.12.5 The driver maximum power demand cannot be increased during any power limited pending or power limited period, except when the overtake mode Boost is selected by the driver, or, subject to Article B7.2.1, when a reset of any power reduction is permitted. C5.12.6 Unless the electrical DC power of the ERS-K is negative, and subject to Article B7.2.1, the driver
