Doc 79 - Qualifying SC2-SC1 Times
Canadian Grand Prix • Timing
Published May 23, 2026 23:20
Summary
Stewards reviewed SC2-SC1 times in qualifying and took no action against drivers exceeding the 1:22.0 time limit.
Explanation
During qualifying, multiple drivers exceeded the 1:22.0 time limit between Safety Car lines. The Stewards reviewed data including marshalling reports, timing, on-board, and CCTV footage. They concluded that all cited drivers maintained sufficient speed for most of the lap and slowed appropriately to let faster cars pass without impeding them. As such, they determined no driver violated Article B1.8.5 or L12.2.1.i by driving unnecessarily slowly, and therefore took no further action. Teams were reminded of their right to appeal within designated time limits.
