Summary
Lance Stroll's car was released with wheel covers still attached, leading to both outer and inner wheel trims detaching during the session.
Explanation
During qualifying, Car 18 (Lance Stroll) was released from the garage with wheel covers still fitted. While driving down the pit lane, the outer wheel trim detached, and later, the inner wheel cover also came loose. The Stewards determined this violated B1.6.2b.i of the FIA F1 Regulations, as the car was released in an unsafe condition. The team admitted a lapse in its pre-release inspection process. Although the driver was unaware, the incident posed a safety risk due to the carbon fibre parts becoming loose on track. As a result, Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team was fined €7,500. The penalty was increased due to the second component detaching while the car was already on track.
