During Qualifying, Car 11 (Sergio Pérez) failed to move to the right in Turn 13 as mandated by the Race Director's Competition Notes. The Stewards reviewed evidence including video, timing, and in-car data, and heard from Pérez and the team representative. Pérez claimed he misjudged a car behind as being on an out-lap, but the Stewards ruled this did not excuse non-compliance. A reprimand was issued as the first of the season for Pérez, with recognition of mitigating circumstances. The regulation cited is L12.2.1.i of the FIA International Sporting Code (Appendix L).
