Doc 23 - Infringement - Free Practice 2 Deleted Lap Times
Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix • Infringement
Published Jun 12, 2026 16:23
Summary
Multiple drivers had lap times deleted in FP2 for not using the track correctly at several turns.
Explanation
During Free Practice 2 at the 2026 Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, lap times were deleted for several drivers—most notably George Russell, Kimi Antonelli, and Lance Stroll—after it was determined their cars did not properly use the track at turns 2, 3, 9, 10, and 13. The stewards ruled this a breach of L4.2.c (Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 2 c) of the FIA International Sporting Code) and B1.8.6 of the FIA F1 Regulations. As a result, affected lap times were deleted per A12.4.1.e. Teams were reminded of their right to appeal within applicable time limits.
