No further action for Gasly over track limits and contact

Doc 76 - Decision - Car 10 - Alleged leaving the track and gaining an advantage

2026 Mexico City Grand Prix

Published

Summary

The stewards decided no further action after Pierre Gasly left the track at Turn 1, yielded position, and had minor contact with Lawson, as correct positions were achieved by Turn 5.

Explanation

The stewards investigated Pierre Gasly (Car 10) for allegedly leaving the track at Turn 1 and gaining an advantage. Gasly gave a position back to Car 43 (Colapinto), then was passed by Car 30 (Lawson) at Turn 4 with minor contact. The stewards reviewed positioning/marshalling data, video, and in-car video. They noted that although guidelines advised yielding by Turn 4, the correct positions were achieved by Turn 5, and Gasly ultimately lost a position. The minor contact did not warrant a penalty. Therefore, no further action was taken.
