Explanation

Esteban Ocon (Car 31) was deemed wholly responsible for a collision with Franco Colapinto (Car 43) at Turn 2 on Lap 33, after attempting an inside pass without sufficient position (front axle not ahead of Colapinto's mirror prior to apex). A 10-second time penalty was imposed under Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 2d for causing a collision. The Stewards based their decision on video evidence and the Driving Standards Guidelines.

d) Causing a collision, repetition of serious mistakes or the appearance of a lack of control over the car (such as leaving the track) will be reported to the Stewards and may entail the imposition of penalties up to and including the disqualification of any driver concerned.
