Summary

Gabriel Bortoleto has been given a 10-second time penalty for causing a collision with Carlos Sainz Jr. at Turn 2 during the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Explanation

The stewards determined that Gabriel Bortoleto (Car 5) caused a collision with Carlos Sainz Jr. (Car 55) at Turn 2 during the race. Video evidence showed Bortoleto attempted an overtake on the inside but did not have his front axle alongside Sainz's mirror prior to the apex and then moved towards Sainz, who had left sufficient space. The stewards found Bortoleto wholly to blame and imposed the standard 10-second time penalty, noting that the incident occurred after a restart but did not warrant the more lenient 'first-lap' approach.
