Car 12, driven by Kimi Antonelli, was released from the garage during Qualifying with a duct cooling fan still attached, creating a dangerous situation. The fan detached on track, causing debris, damage to another car, and triggering a red flag. The Stewards found the Competitor (Mercedes) in breach of Article B1.6.2 b) i) of the F1 Sporting Regulations for releasing the car in an unsafe condition. Despite mitigating circumstances due to prior crash repairs, the team was fined €7,500. George Russell is included as the primary driver of Car 12 in the official entry list, though Antonelli was driving during the incident.
